Adapting to hearing
Lyric is placed close to the eardrum which creates a natural sound, however this can take some getting used to, especially as you will be hearing lots of unfamiliar sounds which you may not have heard for some time.
Why is my Lyric whistling?
It may take a few days for your Lyric to settle into place and there may be some whistling. If this happens, reduce the volume slightly with your Soundlync for a couple of hours, then gradually increase to your comfortable volume. The feedback should last no longer than a few days as it settles in your ear, however if this persists please contact us.
Getting used to Lyric
It may take a short while to get used to the feel of Lyric in your ear. There may be some discomfort during the first few days and occasionally up to two weeks after the initial fitting.
Please use the following classification to gauge your sensation after the fitting:
- Awareness
- Annoyance
- Discomfort
- Pain
If you experience awareness, annoyance or discomfort, the Lyric hearing aid should not be removed. These sensations usually go away after the adaptation phase but continue to monitor carefully.
If you experience pain, remove your Lyric immediately.
Do not remove your Lyric for minor discomfort in the first few days. Most Lyric users forget that their Lyric is even there after this initial settling in period. If you experience any itching during the first few days, massage the side of the ear until it goes away. Do not push, pull or scratch your ear. For the first few days try to sleep on your back, or adjust your pillows, until the Lyric hearing aid settles. Try not to sleep with direct pressure on your ear.

When you sign-up to your Lyric you will receive a SoundLync adjustment tool which works like a remote control.
Safety
Your Lyric has been placed safely and precisely by your hearing professional. Do not use cotton buds or touch the device in your ear.
Lyric Self-Replacement
Once you have adjusted to wearing the Lyric, your audiologist may show you how to replace it yourself should you not be able to come into the clinic. Here’s a video to remind you of the process.
