Spotlight on Hearing Health: Fiona Butterworth Joins Expert Panel

On Thursday 2nd October, Clinical Lead Fiona Butterworth proudly represented Harley Street Hearing and Musicians’ Hearing Services at a dedicated Hearing Health event led by Remedē Health and TinniSoothe. Hosted by Bang & Olufsen Mayfair, the evening brought together leading voices for an open, insightful discussion on protecting hearing for musicians.

Fiona was honoured to join the expert panel alongside Andrea Greene (Remedē Health), Howard Presland (TinniSoothe), Alex Brooks-Johnson (Tinnitus UK), Andy Shiach (ACS Custom) and Dr. Ryan Chin Taw Cheong (Cleveland Clinic London). Their combined expertise created a thought-provoking conversation on the realities of hearing health for musicians, the urgent need to prioritise protection without compromising performance, and approaches to supporting musicians living with tinnitus.

The panel explored a range of practical strategies, from adopting custom in-ear protection to making regular hearing checks part of a musician’s routine, as well as some sharing their personal experiences with tinnitus and how it helped to share their careers. A shared message resonated throughout the evening: early awareness and prevention are the most powerful tools we have.

“It was inspiring to see how many people in the room share my passion for hearing health and want to be involved in educating the wider public,” Fiona shared. “I’m particularly excited about future advancements in tinnitus management techniques and the opportunities to better support musicians living with tinnitus.”
