Highlights from Our Tinnitus Uncovered Event

A few weeks ago, we welcomed guests to 1 Wimpole Street in London for our first Tinnitus Uncovered event, an educational evening organised by Harley Street Hearing in partnership with Neuromod.

Our aim was to bring together people living with tinnitus, those supporting someone with the condition, and healthcare professionals to explore tinnitus, discuss current management options and share experiences.
Tinnitus can be difficult to understand and, for many people, its impact can extend well beyond the sounds they hear. Knowing where to turn for advice or what options may be available can feel overwhelming. We wanted to create an opportunity for people to hear from specialists, ask questions and gain a better understanding of the support and treatments available.

Exploring tinnitus and the latest management options

The evening began with Mr Jordon Thompson, Clinical Lead at Harley Street Hearing, who discussed what tinnitus is, its potential causes and the different approaches to managing it. His presentation highlighted the importance of understanding each person’s experience and exploring management options suited to their individual needs.
We were also pleased to welcome Dr Ross O’Neill, Founder and CEO of Neuromod, who introduced Lenire, a treatment that combines sound with gentle tongue stimulation. Ross explained how the device works, who it may be suitable for and the clinical research behind its development.
The presentations gave attendees the opportunity to learn more about tinnitus and ask questions about the approaches currently available, including newer treatment options.

The value of sharing personal experiences

One of the highlights of the evening was hearing from Alison, a patient of Jordon Thompson, who spoke openly about her experience of living with tinnitus and her journey with Lenire.

While clinical knowledge and research are essential to understanding tinnitus, hearing directly from someone who has experienced it can offer a different perspective. Alison’s contribution helped bring the discussion to life, giving attendees a greater understanding of the personal impact of tinnitus and her experience of exploring treatment.

We are grateful to Alison for sharing her story and helping make the evening so valuable for others.

Bringing people together through better understanding

Following the presentations, guests had the opportunity to continue the conversation with our clinical team and the speakers, see a demonstration of the Lenire device and connect with others over refreshments.

For us, bringing people together was just as important as sharing clinical information. Tinnitus can sometimes feel isolating, particularly when others don’t fully understand what someone is experiencing. Meeting people in similar situations and having the opportunity to discuss concerns in a supportive environment can be reassuring.

One attendee reflected on this in their feedback:

“Just understanding that there are solutions out there which I might one day try. A very welcome technical update. Also, just the simple comfort to know there are so many fellow sufferers (and super professionals thinking through potential solutions.”

It was encouraging to hear how much attendees valued the opportunity to learn, asked questions and felt more informed about the options available to them.

Another attendee summed up the evening simply:

“Everything. Such an amazing event – simply brilliant.”

Continuing the conversation around tinnitus

At Harley Street Hearing, we believe that access to reliable information, expert advice and opportunities to share experiences can make a real difference to people living with tinnitus.

Organising events like Tinnitus Uncovered allows us to bring these elements together, helping people feel better informed and more confident when exploring their next steps.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us, our speakers from Harley Street Hearing and Neuromod, and Alison for sharing her personal experience so openly.
