Bone Conduction Hearing Aids

Bone conduction hearing aids without surgery

Bone conduction hearing aids work by bypassing the outer and middle ear and directly stimulating the inner ear through bone conduction. Instead of using air conduction to transmit sound waves, these devices utilise vibrations that are transmitted through the bones of the skull to the cochlea, which is the hearing organ in the inner ear.

Typical hearing aids work by picking up sound, processing and amplifying it, and then delivering an acoustic signal to the ear canal, which is then conducted through the middle ear to the inner ear.

Who are bone conduction hearing aids suitable for?

At Harley Street Hearing we offer two modern, non-surgical solutions which are  bone conduction hearing aids designed for those with either a mixed or conductive hearing loss, and they can also be used to manage single sided deafness.

SoundArc Bone Conduction Hearing Aid

SoundArc is a lightweight headband that is used to secure the bone conduction device, Baha 6 Max Sound Processor in the correct position behind the ear. SoundArc employs bone conduction technology to transmit sound vibrations to the inner ear.

Baha 6 Max Sound Processor

The power level can provide access to a broad and dynamic range of sounds to improve your ability to hear in noisy environments.

With enhanced durability, the Baha 6 Max features Cochlear’s highest dust and water protection*.

Using SmartSound® iQ technology, your sound processor will automatically make adjustments to optimise your hearing experience.

Stream audio directly to your Baha 6 Max Sound Processor from your Apple or Android smart phone, or other compatible devices such as tablets.

Available in a selection of colours to suit your individual requirements and match your SoundArc headband.

The headband helps keep the device in place and ensures optimal bone conduction transmission.

ADHEAR Bone Conduction Hearing Aid

ADHEAR is a discreet device worn behind the ear. It adheres to the skin using a small waterproof adhesive. The device contains a bone conduction transducer that converts sound into vibrations. These vibrations are then transmitted through the bone to the inner ear, allowing you to perceive sound.

Hearing outcomes in patients with ADHEAR rival those with systems that apply pressure to the skull and even implantable bone conduction solutions.**

Connect your ADHEAR straight to your smartphone or tablet with the Audio Input Cable.

Both the audio processor and the adhesive adapter are available in neutral shades, so you can make Adhear blend in with your natural hair and skin tones.

ADHEAR can provide both children and adults with instant results.

Come in for a hearing consultation with one of our clinical audiologists to determine the most appropriate solution for your specific hearing needs.

* The Cochlear Baha 6 Max Sound Processor, with battery compartment excluded, is dust and water resistant to level IP68 of the International Standard IEC60529. Tested by the RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.
